I am a dedicated Virologist currently trying to master a vast array of microbiology subjects in a public health laboratory setting. I am particularly interested in implementing novel diagnostic techniques for pathogen detection. In this position, my hope is to strengthen collegial interactions among scientists, provide training and mentorship to the next generation of laboratory professionals and serve as a liaison for interactive exchange of scientific ideas. |

Rick has been active in NCASM since 1981! He is a consultant to the environmental engineering and microbiology industries. He has been a Laboratory Director of environmental and food microbiology testing laboratories for 30 years. Dr. Danielson has a broad background in environmental health microbiology including: environmental virology and parasitology; consultation on agents of bioterrorism; expert testimony in environmental microbial contamination cases; and, the establishment of certified environmental microbiological testing laboratories. |

Teaches, trains, and mentors CLS and PHM interns and works as a PHM at Solano County Public Health Lab. Interests include development of new methods for diagnosis of infectious diseases, disease prevention, and vaccine design. Enjoys outdoors, traveling, scouting, and community service. |

Currently works as a Senior Diagnostic and Genetic Quality Control Technologist at The Jackson Laboratory, where working with a diverse group of bacterial organisms and animal health is the main focus. Interests include host-pathogen interactions in relation to food safety and animal health. Enjoys hiking with friends and hanging out with her pot belly pig. |

Public Health Microbiologist |
Xiao Hui (aka Hui) is currently a journey level Public Health Microbiologist at Napa-Solano-Yolo-Marin County Regional Public Health Laboratory. Prior to joining NSYM PHL, she was an ORISE Fellow/Microbiologist at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta, GA with the National Botulism and Enteric Toxins Team. She has been a certified Public Health Microbiologist since August of 2014. Areas of additional professional development include Mycology, Mycobacteriology, and Botulism. |
